A tour of the Canterbury Plains was the first highlight of the morning, with many soaking in the sights of the rustic colonial estate, with huge dogs, large cars, deep swimming pools, sandy tennis courts, and large pieces of lawn. While we ran at a leisurely, sight-seeing pace, we took time to stop at special FatBird Photo Points for group shots...

Anyone knows whether Operation Sunbird is meant for beginner runners? i.e. Runners who at most have completed only 21km.

Wonder whether there are still slots left <_<

Operation Sunbird is specifically designed with the Beginner/Intermediate runner in mind. The runner who is undertaking this 21km Half Marathon and 42.1km Full Marathon training program should already have completed a few lesser distance races and

is able to commit time and effort to train 3-4 sessions per week.

More details can be found at its facebook page. Type "Operation Sunbird" in the search box. Registration opens soon. :)

The appetizer went steadily well, working up an appetite for the nearly 50 runners. Perspiration flowed readily when the set was done, and all were ready for the main course. Probably due to the adrenalin pumping, the initial sets of the main course were devoured in double-quick time, which was not advisable, as that could lead to indigestion and even 'puking' symptoms...

What attendance and performance criteria do I have to meet for the Operation SunBird Marathon Program?

Hi Hong Hee,

Entitlements will be based on achieving a minimum of attendance in at least 50% of all the 12 weekend training sessions.

The weekday sessions are optional, and may be done at your own convenience, following the Sunbird Training Plan.

However, you are encouraged to attend as many on-site training sessions as possible to gain maximum benefits out of Operation Sunbird 2010.

While you will not be penalised for training timings and race results, we firmly belief that your performance at the training sessions, trials, and actual race will be a testimony to your regular attendance and application of the training sessions.

For more information, please refer to the Sunbird FAQs here http://sunbird.teamfatbird.com/training/OSB10FAQ.pdf

Warm Regards,

I already have a slot for full marathon.. Can join OPS Sunbird training program with goodie bag at a reduce price, since I don't need a slot stand chart?

Ender,

The training slots (without SCMS slots) have been filled in Phase 1 Registration. Please write in to training@teamfatbird.com with your request to be put on waiting list. You will be informed should there be a free training slot available.

Cheers!

This was my first time joining SGrunners & Team FatBird for a leisure run since I join this forum in 2006. It was an enjoyable run and scenic location run.

Thanks to the organizer.

We were so glad to be back in the shelter and shade of The FatBird's Nest. Most of us were just happy to complete the 18-23km distances, with timings about 10min off PB. Considering the conditions of the day, I would say the efforts were commendable. We were pleasantly surprised to see the majority of Kingfishers completing 21km or more, and most were able to maintain a sustainable target pace for at least 12-15km...

All the Kingfisher and friends checked in at 4.15am for Flight Kingfisher001 from Esplanade Bridge to The Padang in high spirits. Although a number were nursing mild bouts of flu and the lack of sleep, most Kingfishers and friends came prepared for this key Army Half Marathon (21.1km) race in the local Calendar. With 6 weeks of training preparation under their belts, The Kingfishers were all set to go for this important flight in the hope of completing the journey in good form, best if Personal Bests could be bettered...

It was a brand new experience of the Northern Trails, Island Country Road, undulating Pierce Reservoir Roads and of course the rather famous AirCond Road for many of the Sunbirds. As we were training in FatBird BaseBuild Zone, we were obligated to tone our paces to about 30sec or slower than target race pace. We were also conservative in the initial leg, going at more sustainable paces, and saving ourselves for the return leg...

    • Yes, almost a break coming 2 months, Pre-SEA Games qualifying races officiating , ultra distances running and practices are really very long hours...and you know uncle is back when you start hearing uncle time to "howlian" some personal accomplishes... Team Performance... 10KM Team Relay vs Global Teams. Congratulations, Team sgRunners have maintained Top 10 out of 24 Teams who participated in the Relay 10KM Global Challenge.  We are Top in Asia and we are in sub4 hour. Well done and thank you. 👍
    • According to uncle-aka-"future-trend reader and fortune-reading teller"... Career and Wealth are stable, especially love in general, except special attention to be paid to health issues... OSIM...you mean this one... buying for SOH gf's mother on Mother's Day...thanks to mutual understanding due to crisis in March... and for SOH's mother on Mother's Day...enjoy a lot of tenderness and love.. of course, SOH needs one also for his active career lifestyle...as UA World Ambassador and get paid handsomely...  start from monthly installment SGD 99.. quite unlike his usual style...aiya...still got High Court pending case...WIN big means  1) Millions in Loss Income compensation for having to forfeit having to go previous SEA Games even if SOH has qualified, because of Ashley Liew's Court Case. Remember in previous post..credibility of a National Sports Association who supported Ashley... XXX - corrected... National Sports Authority who supported Ashley in the first place, "thoroughly investigated". 2) Ashley Liew appeal against Expert Witness (The Truth) and Expert Witness (Compensation for SOH's Loss of Income) and what if Ashley Liew LOST in both appeals. Kena pay big big, even a layman in non-Law also know, "Pay the Price for not keeping your mouth shut when you lose, tsk tsk tsk". 3) Expect "National Sports Authority" to issue a Press Statement... S****  SOH 4) SOH vs "National Sports Authority" next saga...why you reject my application to go to SEA Games ah? Mere speculations on the future outcome...eat 🍿....zzzz and dream on 🍿...because the TRUTH hurts.
    • uncle can, and was thinking about forming a team as Team Captain, but, uncle thinks there is none here...😲 in March April  Just completed a virtual full marathon distance... going for next one this weekend... shall be starting Virtual FM from May 8-30... BTW, this Virtual Race is FOC to sign-up, and can win prizes with lucky draw.. https://www.sunshinecoastmarathon.com.au/atlas-events-virtual-series
    • the distance looks quite scary... 1680km for the minimum Bronze standard.. If we can get 10 members, each member have to run 168km in a month meaning around 42km per week.... not impossible.. just that need to find at leas 10 members who will commit to a 42km per week running schedule....
    • I noticed even his recent facebook post on the OSIM chair that he had seemed to be quite unlike his usual style...
