everything is settled through lawsuit

that is why, money and reputation will be at stake for these stakeholders...SOH, Ashley, the National Sports Authority.

really dunno the real answer

if there is no transparancy on the matter or biased judgement (as SOH's current legal team has alleged) on the lawsuit...

eat¬†ūüćŅ, the saga journey has not ended.

If we really want the real answer and we really want the truth...

only with that look on SOH's determination and perserverance...we will and must eventually find out. Right, Soh?ūüėĬ†

It always amaze how professional sportsmen like Soh can sustain his motivation to achieve his goals. Just like it amazes me how Uncle @kohpapa¬†can run more than 500 km in a month¬†ūüôĄ¬†Frankly I¬†have used uncle as someone I know (from forum) to motivate some people to start exercising. Or at least just do some sports they enjoy without going to 'extremes'.

As for this Soh's saga, I think it has gone on long enough. They have both contributed to the country. I hope the outcome is something that will be good for both parties.

Perhaps why we run as Age Group in progressing years, the primary reason...

If you aim to run moderately - 32 to 48 km a week - you can expect to reap the bone-building and strengthening benefits of running

Two-time SEA Games marathon winner Soh Rui Yong has been nominated by Singapore Athletics (SA) to represent the nation in the men's 1,500m at the Nov 21-Dec 2 edition in Hanoi.

Full story: Athletics: Soh Rui Yong earns nomination for SEA Games

It probably would not matter anyway.

  1. SNOC would probably reject his nomination
  2. The SEA game this year would probably be cancelled.

1. I think it would look good on SNOC if they decide to show graciousness and put the past behind them - SRY already did anyway, and made amends with the new SA committee. There isn't any negative news surrounding SRY for the past 2 years too, as he seems like he stopped competitive running for a while. I don't see any reason not to accept the nomination based on merit.

That said, I am slightly disappointed that he is not going for a marathon anymore. He was sort of a motivational figure to me and inspire to go for more marathons when he was the SEA games champions in 2015 and 2017.

2. I believe the eventual consensus would be to agree to let Vietnam postpone the game to next year, when the Covid situation should be more or less stabilized already after most of us are vaccinated. Like the Olympics or Euro cup, not likely that these sports events get cancelled.

But I am a little amused that Singapore actually step forward to volunteer to host the game if Vietnam is unable to, always the "ostentatious" image that our government wants to portray to our neighbours...

Singapore Athletics nominates Soh Rui Yong for 2021 SEA Games. Will he get to go?

https://themonitor.sg/2021/06/14/singapore-athletics-nominates-soh-rui-yong-for-2021-sea-games-will-he-get-to-go/

Reality check: However, whether he gets the nod to travel and represent Singapore would still be reliant on the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC ) selectors, and if the SEA Games takes place at all.

Soh has been nominated to represent Singapore in the 1500m event and not the marathon, his pet event.

Said Soh, “I started training for the 1500m this year for the first time in eight years because we haven’t been able to travel for marathons since last year, and we haven’t had any marathons held locally.
