Am I the only one who find it ironic that a sporting event target at youth is proceeding this weekend; whereas events scheduled for next week and targeted at adults are being postponed? 80

If anything, I thought it would be more prudent to postpone youth sporting events instead. So are youths supposed to be more vulnerable or resilient to the effects of PM2.5 particulates? :iiam:

My thinking same as you.

If youth event can proceed as per normal, why not the other 2 events for next week?

because...the Authority of youths..MOE.. says can..that's all..

where else.. the other 2 events of adults.. listens to the other Authority.. NEA guidelines.. don't know what..says follow what PSI PM2.5... don't know what 3-hour..24-hour..

if got cancel, uncle shall report to you guys.. don't need your concerns.. the Authority of youths.. says to official uncle, do your official duty..make sure..split point at 1.6km U-turn point..refer to the Bib colour and direct youth participants to the correct u-turn point...the race shall carry ON.. :turned: ..yes, Authority..

had a recce with Orange Room organising committee..@ECP E2 Angsana Green.. yes, very much set for tomorrow..

weather conditions.. stop or cancel.. if thunderlightning.. or haze above PSI 100..has 300 N95 masks ready..

some surprises.. no bodymarking (since this is non-competitive event).. instead of mass swim.. waves of 10 swimmers each..and the height of water is almost half the body of youths..for safety also.. receding tides as hours followed.. low getting lower...

already uncle saw lorry-load of rented youth bikes unloading at the transition..1-15 rows for bikes to be mounted..

run..3 U-turns.. for junior, intermmediate, and senior... they will also be youth relay and family (relay) category..

and GOH shall be taking part in the youth relay.. name.. shi secret.. Tan Chin Chuan..

Mr Tan, who was the Guest-Of-Honour of the event, said: "I am very inspired by the drive and spirit these youths, especially the SportCares athletes who have challenged themselves mentally and physically to reach the finish line. It has been a very rewarding experience for me and I'm glad to have experienced my first triathlon with these youths."

This year, there was a remarkable increase in the number of participants in the Junior Category with a total of 510 participants aged between 10 to 12 years old. The family relay also garnered a total of 37 family teams, more than triple the number compared to previous years.

Everyone who crossed the finish line received a medal at the non-competitive triathlon"

Is it cause got extra protection - youth got indemnity former signed by parent?

Even though the event should have covered this in rule n regulation, how many runners got read? See the number of complaints on the postponement, refunds issues, etc

youths in outdoor activities, yes, must have indemnity covered by organiser, and to be signed by parents, and that's the proper order.. many youths that took part are under 18..and MOE demands this "extra protection".

and this event.. has been disagreed by Orange Room as event organiser for the sake of complying to the Authority and the NEA issues of warning, but their sponsor Milo did not agree, and insist that the event must not be cancelled..but, shall follow the rules of hazard warnings of PSI of 100 and above only on race day - and will cancel only if PSI exceeds 100.. or if there is thunder lightning..stop all activities.. and to be continued once the danger of weather condition improves..or given the green light for no longer thunder lightning..

and as such, the event of yesterday, saturday.. haze was not even PSI 100 and above, and the weather condition was bright and sunny..

so, the milo youth triathlon was carried out.. with extreme caution.. that is, if there is unexpected haze during the event, 300+ N95 masks will be supplied to those in need urgently, and the event will be immediately CANCEL..

so, the sponsor milo..was very bold and determined and even took calculated risk..to get on with the race..and, uncle has deep respect for sponsor milo.. for giving the race a second chance, what if.. everything turns out fine?

as for the Orange Room organiser.. they already told uncle.. milo youth triathlon and tri-factor run should have been cancelled..and will get sponsors and other organisers to agree.. and so.. tri-facor run was cancelled and postponed (now uncertainty which date?) by their sponsors and organisers..but, not with sponsor milo..for milo youth triathlon..believing..What If?.. and all tents, open water buoys setup with floats, road barriers, cones..etc..meaning costs were "spent" for during the efforts of prepration..

now, uncle leaked out..secret..as usual..behind the scene of race organisers.. of how come races could be cancel and postpone under haze conditions..just like that.. shi.. keep this.. secret..shared here..only..no anyhow say say to others..ok.

thank you, wonderfulblevic.. for reading..

actually, another reason why milo youth triathlon 2013.. must never be cancelled.. because of SportCares..

2 June reported..SportCares teens gear up for Milo Youth Triathlon..

SINGAPORE - Twenty four athletes from SportCares, the philanthropic arm of the Singapore Sports Council which provides sporting opportunities for children and teenagers from under-privileged backgrounds, embarked on a special training session today to prepare themselves for the upcoming Milo Youth Triathlon.

The MILO Youth Triathlon, which is sponsoring the athletes’ participation in the June 29 event, organised the session at East Coast Park which saw eight SportCares student mentors joining in to motivate the participants.

The session began with a team support training where the eight mentors swam, cycled and ran alongside the participants. The second part of the training session focused on independent training where each designated team member swam, cycled and ran a trial distance, followed by a practice on how they could better transition during the actual triathlon.

“MILO Youth Triathlon is a platform outside of school grounds where we see life-long values such as perseverance, confidence and determination shine through in our youths,” said Chow Phee Chat, Nestle SIngapore’s Marketing Director for Beverages.

“Through a non-competitive format where “Everyone’s a Winner”, we provide the opportunity for youths, including these athletes from SportCares, to learn through sports that it is not all about winning but more importantly, to always do one’s best.”

Laura Reid, Assistant Director for SportCares Foundation said that the training session enabled the athletes to realise how much they can achieve by pushing themselves.

“Our SportCares athletes have not always had the opportunities and access to develop their full potential, but the workshop today demonstrates how much they can achieve with the right support and resources,” she said.

“Through the MILO Youth Triathlon, SportCares is helping these youth push past the limits of their experience to discover their broader potential. At today’s training, we saw our athletes learn the value of team-work, we witnessed their perseverance shining through as they strove to complete each segment and how they are now much more confident for the actual triathlon.”

The SportCares athletes were also given a sports kit comprising goggles, running shoes, running singlet, shorts and socks. The items were sponsored by MILO, TYR and World of Sports.

because of this philanthropic drive.. MILO, TYR and World of Sports...wants NO second chance..insisted...Milo Youth Triathlon 2013.. must go on.. because ALL must experience life-long values such as perseverance, confidence and determination, and ALL must become CHAMPS..by participating.
