Transferring/Selling/Request of Race Slots of Any Event Discussion

Recommended Posts

sgrunners is not going to become a medium ... for ur info, no one is this forum ever encouraged any selling.. by this i mean there was no thread created for ppl who wanna buy/ sell tix.

I jus wanna reinforce the idea that it is the runner's personal responsibiliy to ensure his own safety when taking part in the race, it's not about whose identity is on the ticket.

Lastly, if u're going to close this thread, it's not becos of me.. pls don't put the blame on me.. i'm jus one of those who is putting his discussion ideas on this discussion thread.. I would like to think it's u who can't account reasonably ur decision to create this situation.

thank you very much for the feedback!

Hi Buddy,

In my opinion ... standing alone and not on anyone's side ... A HEALTHY DEBATE IS GOOD FOR THE FORUM ... no harm to listen to ideas as the more you receive you can fine tune the forum to make it more international. We must learn from each other to live harmony and the same goes for all from family, working life, running friends, close associates to even our own kids ... We as adults sometimes need to learn from the new generation too ... Don't close this thread because of what is written ... NEVER DO THAT ... in any business, we must listen to feedback to improve ... Just a note from an old bones.

U wish it'll fine tune ? Me too... but I dun think it's happening here and now.... not wif the present moderator lonelyrunner.

We're always listening feedback but if no one's acting on it what's the point? that's why things go dead.

Nex time i expect to happen he/she is going to delete/edit some of the posts that's been here a while ago..

Hi Everyone,

As a senior, I would like to offer my 2 cents worth of advice. Whether the advice is acceptable to all is subjective. I trust that as a human being, each of us have different strengths and intelligence. We should utilize these strengths and intelligence at the correct and right moment.

Let's ask ourselves what would we have gain at the end of the day? If we wished to see changes and improvement in the forum, we should contribute the constructive ideas and suggestion in a healthy way by allowing people to have a voice because a forum is a place where we try to help each other in a charitable way. ^_^

BTW ... hi TLR buddy you know me since 2005 ... you should also know who is standing behind me with most of the legal knowledge and ideas ... you are free to PM me ^_^

Little tiger, please do not take what is written below seriously, i take it as an example.

We know that you are not feeling well.

wow, you on the ball man, sick also want to run. There are so many races every month, skip this

one lor, then chiong! chiong! chiong!

Many people called you, must have asked 2 things, you and the race slot condition, hahaha.

I am a collector lor, donate to me :dribble:

tigger have donated quite a number of race slot to others over the last few years...

but only given to runners that i have known...tigger dont know william_min...so...

But rules are rules. Putting myself in the forum managers' shoes, I've assumed that they just have to voice their objections to postings that offer transfer of slots. But I also noticed that those postings were not actually deleted. So in a way, the mods have been keeping both parties at peace. We could've lived in the gray area happily...

Unfortunately many of us are not used to living in "gray areas". We need everything to be in black-and-white. And now we got our wish fulfilled.

Two years ago, I wasted my slot because I fell sick at very near to the race day. Today, I wondered if someone else could've benefited from that wasted slot. But now, I've one less avenue to offer that benefit if (or should I say "when") similar situation arises again.

HaHaHa, not "gray areas". You did not get the full picture. This topic was moved from SC

Marathon topics. Members got their post deleted, and the reason mods give is they are

not allow to post transfer/sell/buy race slot. wwwlimlim came to know about it, then

ask if no such rule why delete people post, if have then must let us know what? What

"gray area" you talking mah

Also you mention "But I also noticed that those postings were not actually deleted.

So in a way, the mods have been keeping both parties at peace". . Since you mention

that, i also give you my view lor. I also noticed that some sell/buy of race slot was

deleted, some was not. The reasons i can think of is double standard lor. :notfair::notfair:

What to do, amry also like that one, say cannot do this, do that, but the officers

themselve also do. :diablo: . Or some mods feel that is ok, then leave the post there

lor, some mods feel cannot, then delete it lor. They do not have the same frequency.

Maybe also because of these reasons, wwwlimlim fire his gun, haha

ok, i read this topic many times, many times, many times. What wwwlimlim said is true.

He share common view of many runners. I feel he is from UPRIGHT camp, not opposition camp

or pap camp, haha. I support our hero wwwlimlim :clapping:

Both party, shall sit down and talk, discuss here is also good. Maybe can invite wwwlimlim, since he is the hero who fire his UPRIGHT gun. If want to invite me also can, as long there is free food, haha

A) what's wrong with transferring of race slot?

- dangerous in times of real emergency (different blood group, different contact person)

- complication to insurance in times of real emergency

- violate terms and conditions of race registration

B) what's good with transferring of race slot?

- don't waste the slot (already paid)

- registration full already cannot register anymore

- willing buyer willing seller - win-win situation

given that A has low chance of happening and B provides instant gratification, benefiting both parties, it is not surprising that there are people who think it is ok to take the chance

in this forum, we chose to disallow discussion of transferring of race slots because though the chance of emergency is low, the consequence can be high.

this decision was stated in an old post in 2008, but not stated clearly in the forum rules at first - we have since added to the forum rules so there should be nothing grey about it...

our stand is clear, and there is no double standard - if anyone still finds post of anyone trying to buy/sell/transfer slot, it is because we missed the post - please help the moderators by clicking on the "report" button and we will take action quickly.

will you walk into a shop that says "no pets allowed" and try to justify why you must bring your pet in?...(and when the shopkeeper disallow, complain that he doesn't take feedback)

2008 post....too old to read....please don't expect runners to read it. Even myself also don't want to read it. It is good that you all(moderators) add this rules to sgrunners.com forum rule, so everyone will read before posting.

Talk is so easy....I knew some moderators here....very unfriendly and have "double" standards...."met him in the running event, give a smile to him also "bo chap" his face like the whole world owe him a lot"...dun know how come he can be a moderator???? haha...there are also have very nice and kind moderators here which also very friendly. .....

No need to be so serious to click the report button.....please send them a gentle reminder....Your nick here "gentle" must let people knowing that you are gentle, otherwise..you are not gentle...need to change your nick herelho...haha... ;)

Apparently the mods choose to ignore wat i said many times.

The runner is responsible for their own safety.. it's not abt whose identity is on the ticket. It is the same either way. Furthermore, giving another runner the chance to take part after the hard training put in is a great thing to do.

Gentle's example of a pet shop has no relevance to this issue at all, and i'm sure he knows this too :)

Rules are created by man. There are right rules and wrong rules and stupid rules. If we were to follow all kinds of rules all the time, wat does that make of u? No one follows every single rule in their life.. example.. many ppl cross the road at red light .. nothing happens.

I started running without paying few yrs ago in the AHM ... the organisers didn't bother to check on registrations back den.. yes i broke the rules but that created the runner in me today.

If i had followed the rules, i wudn't be a healthy runner now.. so it's good i broke the rules.. of cos now they started checking registrations cos they wanna make sure they make max profits.

By the way,

The rules are self contradicting.. first it says "SGRunners.COM will not bear any responsibility if the race slots are transfered or sold among members outside/inside this forum" den why are they disallowing it in the first place??

Another rules says "It is totally unethical and which is definitely not allowed in races"

Yes it's not allowed but why is it unethical??

u mean giving it to another potential runner is unethical????????? can the mod explain this further??

Hey gentle,

u say " though the chance of emergency is low, the consequence can be high"

u mean the actual person who take part can definitely have a higher chance to be saved if something happens?? I won't agree wif u unless u're god.

Come on, we all know the real reason is the mods are afraid this forum will get into trouble if ppl are selling, thereby braking the rules of the race.. but this forum, i say again... is NOT PROMOTING or Encoraging any selling ever since it's created !! The mods here do not need to get so hyped up their shorts to create this situation at all ! No one is banging down an order to shut it up .. so can the mods be reasonable and not delete/edit posts here and there??

i think my example of (no-pets-allowed) shop (not pet shop) is very relevant to the situation here...

you have shared about crossing the road when light is red, running a race without registering - i think this can be extended to using pirated software, download movies, even watching porn etc...

some will feel that it is perfectly fine to do it, some will take the chance, while some will never do it...(all will have their own reasons)

we will not judge you base on what your stand is - however for the transfer of race slot, we have draw our line for this forum (btw our rules are not written/vetted by lawyer so there may be flaws or grammar mistakes - we will try to refine to the best of our abilities)

it is like recycling - we believe in playing our part, regardless how insignificant it seem, or whether other people are recycling or not....

you may view us as kiasu/kiasi - nevermind, you are entitled to your opinion...

this is a running forum, i think we are better off channeling more energy to our runs :)

Alot of trolls in this thread.

The topic is buying and selling of race slots, which is no brainer actually but some peeps expect their ideas to be implemented like 'oh cannot its a must else feedback us useless without action' rubbish zzzz

shit stuffs you expect from a keyboard

Chill chill everyone... This is just a forum, why so serious?

Just like you give good feedback to gahmen, some dun get implemented no matter how you push and present the case, isn't it? And they dun really give any explaination. So lan lan suck thumb lah.

About transferring/selling/request of race slots, I fully understand your point. I sold my HM slot in 2006 after tearing my ankle ligament. Hmmm just do it discreetly lah since the rules are discouraging us to do so.

At the end of the day, if you insisted on making a difference in this forum against the wishes of the founder. I do not think it will go anywhere. Dun waste your time and efforts here lah. You may want to consider joining other forums or create one forum by yourself.

Hello to all,

Interesting to see and read all the different opinions and suggestions posted by different individuals.

Well since Ultra has given his 2 cents worth, allow me to contribute my 1 cent worth of thoughts. Before I proceed further, please note that what I am going to write is based on my own observation, perception and experience. I am not here to lecture, instruct or teach. Read it with an open mind and slowly digest what have been written. Remember that every person is allowed to voice his or her thoughts and opinions. It’s always good to remain calm and cool when reading notes that are based on sensitive topics like RULES, CHANGE, CHARACTER etc.

The world is made up of different people with different personalities, character, opinions, voice and strength plus we have different sexes – MALE and FEMALE (this made the world a more interesting place rather then only a male domain or female protected site).

It’s very easy to start a forum or team but to please all is a totally different issue especially when rules are concerned. I will use my own setup of Team Pegasus as a case study. When Ultra and I set up the team, our initial plan was that since everyone had such fun after doing the 218km Run Round Singapore coordinated by us, we wanted to keep the spirits alive by having a team where we can run, eat and socialize but boy were we wrong. What can go wrong? The answer is simple – SETTING UP RULES. Many people do not like to have rules as they felt restricted by it. Instead of discussing and finding ways to settle the issue, it was blown out of proportion so much so that it became the talk of the town. This is what is happening in the forum at the very moment. In every argument, both parties try to make their stand but no one wants to step back and analyze the situation in a mature fashion. We cannot effect change immediately but we can give suggestions to be taken into account and define it. In any kind of organization, we can never please all but we can compromise and learn to accommodate each other. What we want is the end result. Bringing the organization down will not benefit anyone in the long run and vice versa.

Life is a challenge. Stepping out of your comfort zone is never easy but we can all take baby steps. There will always be guinea pigs so why not let us be the guinea pigs and learn from this lesson?

I told Ultra that in the forum, we do not judge a person based on his nick only. It’s better to be diplomatic than to offend. A word less spoken will speak volumes than shooting from the hips to hit all corners. We are all mature individuals and should be treated with respect. Let us respect each other as the world is a small place. You will never know who you will meet.

Cheers

in this forum, we chose to disallow discussion of transferring of race slots because though the chance of emergency is low, the consequence can be high.

Runners got injure/kill during night run.

Runners got injure/death during IPPT(2.4 run)

Runners got injure/death during race events.

So no more night run,

So no more race,

So please tell SAF not to conduct the event, because thought the chance of death is low,

the consequence can be high. They will ask you to fly kite, haha

will you walk into a shop that says "no pets allowed" and try to justify why you must bring your pet in?...(and when the shopkeeper disallow, complain that he doesn't take feedback)

i also catch no ball le :pardon: , are u a joker?

why no say you want to go into LKY house, the guard stop you, but you die die

want to go in? The guard will send u to MPH (Mad People Hospital), hahaha

There is no huge order to kill or behead anyone ..

If the mods can close one eye like before , it will benefit a lot of potential runners and injured runners who cannot take part.

But if this decision is made based on overly paranoia...then it will negatively affect many runners of above.

I jus like to remind u that all along, this situation is a close one eye thing.. and it has advantaged many runnners.. this NEW ORDER (created out of over-paranoia leading to impossible consequences) was brought in to create a disadvantaged situation.

U mention mature fashion?

How mature is it to already delete/edit posts on selling , den set up a thread to discuss it ? If there is no chance of changing the decision, why/how mature is it to set up a discussion?
