I hate the lengthy earphone cords hitting my body when I run, I tried using the Magneat, it was okay for a while, but then I wanted something not so obvious (the Magneat is kinda big - machiam Ironman). I saw all kinds of methods of shortening the cable, and this 'Braiding' method caught my eye, but it was almost impossible to implement on the normal earphone cables, then when I bought the Yurbuds last week, I realise they use cloth as their cable casing, so I tried the braiding it, and I'm happy it works very well!

My solution is probably not new, but this was all made possible with the Yurbuds Inspire earphones using cloth-cords. Not sure how it will affect the wires inside, but I am happy with my 'innovation' :D

Just sharing what I did, and perhaps spark on other ideas, or you may want to share your ideas on dealing with excessive earphone cords while running....

I just use a wireless headset. The only downside is that you have to remember to charge it.

May I ask what is the brand of the wireless headset you are using? I am looking for one but read not so good reviews for bluetooth ones such as Jabra sports,et c.

Get the Sony Walkman W series MP3. No wire to worry about. No need bluetooth and no separate MP3.

Perfect earphones for running:

1. Sweat & weather resistant
2. Won't fall out during runs
3. Decent sound (with some bass)
4. Short cord (0.7m)
5. Reasonably priced

Anyone who found something like the above, I'm all ears :mp3:

@ _Hitman.. I used the Sennheiser PMX680 headphones when running with an armband. These have a shortened cord, and an extension. Perfect for me. They form is behind the ears so you can rest the headphones around your neck if you need a break from music for a bit.
I liked them so much I bought the PMX680i (similar model but with iphone control and mic but only a long cord option).
They match 4 of your 5 criteria, may be a little pricey but definitely worth it.

Hey Apteryx,

Thanks for the recommendation, in fact I was using the Sennheiser PMX80 (orange) for a year before switching to the PMX680 (green) which also lasted me for a year. The problem I had with the Sennheisers is that after about 5km, the right side of the earphone becomes softer.... and I have to blow hard at the earpiece to clear the moisture. Not sure if it is the construction of the earphone, or is it me sweating too much.... After the thunder-storm during the Sundown Marathon, the right side died and I ran the rest of the distance with music to my left ear only...

So a search for new earphones brought me to the Yurbuds, so far they have performed well, and I liked it a lot.
