Worst was the race start that was delayed that nearly caused a mini riot. Was suppose to assemble at 4am and start at 4:30am. We were there before 4am waiting and then they announced the race will start at 5am. That got a lot of out-station runners agitated as most have book bus tickets to leave for home right after the race.
Next, we were ushered into a compound to collect a cable-tie to attach to our wrist as part of the checking procedure they use. As we tried to leave the compound, we were then stopped from doing so as they wanted to gather all the FM runners together before the start. If you confine a bunch of already agitated people, tempers are bound to rise. Some were shouting for the start to begin and instigating others to push our way out of the gates. Most were just laid back and watching in amusement.
When were we finally let out and moved to the start line, the start was still delayed and it's already pass 5am. Again, there were few that were shouting that we should just start on our own without the official flag off. Guess probably in all the confusion, that was what might have happen. As we started off and barely 10m later, we were all stopped again. After a few more minutes, the official start was sounded with a siren. Finally!
The route itself was as best as what the town could offer. It was mostly flat except for a couple of flyovers. It was still enjoyable even with the traffic coming up behind you. Many kudos to the traffic police who were constantly moving up and down along the route with the runners. They also did a great job in controlling the traffic especially at the junctions. Route directions and water were sparse along the course. There were some stations that were abandoned when there obviously was no water. Some had ran out of cups. Route directions were also confusing at times and especially the final 2 kms through the main part of town where there are so many cars and street turnings. I had to look at every street to see if it was the final turn to head back and as it was, it has to be the last street! Turn, collect the final ribbon to verify that you have stayed on the whole course and head to the finish point.
Even at the end, the Start/Finish sign was already removed and it seems the organisers were in a hurry to pack up even though there were still quite a few runners out there and there was another 2 hours before the race officially ends. Collected medal and T-shirt and that was it. No promised goodies bag and worse, no water for the finishers.
Unless there is marked and proven improvement on the organising, guess this is one of the run that I'll just have to say "been there, done that".

Achievement don't come without hard work,
Every failure there is a way out,
Never afraid failure! Just tell your yourself " YOU CAN DO IT "......
