RacingThePlanet: Patagonia 2017 is a 7-day, 250-kilometer / 155-mile self-supported footrace which takes place in Bariloche in Argentina. It’s a one –off race that is part of the 4 Deserts Race Series. The course presents a great variety of Patagonian landscape including dry pampas, ancient forests, pristine blue mountain lakes, high plateaus, vast views of valleys, rivers as well as peaks of the Andes Mountain Range including El Tronador, an extinct volcano located along the border between Argentina and Chile; and Ventisquero Negro, the black glacier, one of the eight glaciers formed around the mountain. Competitors will also experience life in local villages with friendly locals, Gauchos, as they traverse the 250 kilometer course. More information about the race is available at www.4deserts.com/beyond/patagonia
In conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 Dec 2017, SPD will be organising the inaugural SPD Breaking Barriers Virtual Run to allow members of the public to show their support for persons with disabilities (PWDs), run for a good cause and raise fund for PWDs. It also serves as an opportunity for both persons without disabilities and persons with disabilities to step out of their comfort zone, break out of their own mental barriers and challenge themselves to complete a 10km run.
The funds raised will be channeled to help over 9,400 people with disabilities served through the programmes and services offered at SPD, of which 5,500 are unique individuals. For more information, visit www.virtualrun.spd.org.sg.
