er... i have a huge group which was following very closely behind me. if i slowed down to drink but they skipped the station, they would turn back and look for me. then i very stressed and got to quickly run ahead to be with them. Even when V went missing because he went to the toilet, the pacees noticed and asked for him.

If I detoured into ECP MacDonalds for Big Breakfast, no one would had figured out :tongue_smilie: :Big Grin:

Though no one followed the 4 hr team ( myself per se), would like to apologise for going off-limits in the end.

A bunch of runners were following closely in the 1st half but they slowly dropped out one by one though I was keeping my pace pretty constant up to the 38km when the run took its toll on me

Finished in a Gun Time of ~ 4 hrs 2 mins

Yeah, u fly off rite after the buzz. haha ...

But still, I would say TFB pacers are solid and good.

A job well-done. :smilie_daumen1:

Ultra Sifu, I dun wanna blame my timing on the blockages and stuff but this is certainly one area or two that the organizers should look into and improve for future singapore marathon events.

I do agree wif Ultra. I stop running when I saw the crowd. haha

Slacker mah!

Raven,

i think i'm the first one to drop out from your group. i dun think i even last the first 10km. It all voiced down to inexperience of me to take powerbar for breakfast. My stomach is like a washing machine right from the start till the end. One good consolation is to focus on the finishing and go home to flush out the powerbar.

Though disappointed, i meet many others that did well. Congrats runners! As for your effort in pacing and foregoing your own PB is already remarkable. You've done a good job and so are all the rest of the pacers. Keep it all!

This year was my very 1st experience in the pacer business and I appreciate all the support and encouragement given from Team Fatbirdā€™s members. I enjoyed the past 15-16 weeks of fellowship with you lot.

Next year (2009), I would be going back to my solitude training.

Thanks Team FatBird! :Applause:

hey Cheow12,

no wonder we didn't sight you after the initial part of the race....

..kk.. was running strong just tagging along Ultra and Aero all the way into ECP....you might have just slowed down after the turn at 21km....

it sure was a fun and happening turning point where we met and cheered fellow runners and Pacers....thats where the FatBird 4hr Pacers merged with the adidas 4hr Pacers....said hello to Pacer friends David Tay and Benny, who combined with us to lead a sizeable group of Pacees through that stretch....nice cooperation there :)

I turned my head back in the early stages and u were already nowhere in sight.

how I wished u were running as close to me as during training but nonetheless I missed the mark as well, so it does not really matter.

next week mr25 TT still on for u??

and for g**'s sake, powerbar for breakfast??

Oh, is it! I tot u were in-front all the while becoz I didnt see u at all. I was keeping a distance from Ultra and Dreamz till I went for toilet break. :Waiting: then lost everyone.

Caught up with 415hr pacers, followed them .... lost again when I went to toilet again. :Silly:

Anyway, so far the few pacers I seen I believe the TFB pacers are very consistent and strong. I really had a hard time catching up. Kudos

Well done guys.

thanks fd... I was just trying to look focused... hahahhahahaha :Big Grin:

Was so nice to bump into 4hr pacer led by Raven. The pace is really consistent :). But I dropped out at 9km or sth due to the stiches caused by chiong the first 4km at 5min pace followed the 4hr adidas pacers . I thought my watch spoilt or sth until they kept going faster and faster, and I checked my watch, 5min pace already. lol.

Next year lots of pacers would go mountain to train for PB again :P

by all accounts, you did a very respectable timing for your 42km....train hard next year, and sub-4hr will be yours for the taking...cheers!

well done Fatbird pacers :D

Honestly you have all done a great job in creating awareness and also the effort in creating this program. This is the true meaning of pacing unlike this year's Adidas and last year's Nike pacers. Haha maybe I'm bias ;p

thank you sifu :)... Should have joined more training from Fatbird team. sob sob...

At first I was quite comfortable with the pace, becos it was just the starting of the race, and I trusted they would do max 5:30min for sub 4... Until I saw them going further n further, and I decided to look at my watch... I stopped right away since I know I won't be able to run at that pace for a good 10km or sth. Don't know what strategy they did. I was surprised u met them at 21km mark.

I'm only now learning about the FatBird Pacers. (How do we recognize you folks? :) )

Anyway, my thanks to the gentleman and the lady who ran as the Adidas pacers for the 21K 2:15 time. :Applause: Very steady and chatty. Thanks to these pacers, I was easily able to finish in 2:10, 25min faster than last year! :)

Last year I followed the Adidas 3:45hr pacer team (Realrunner and team) and did my PB. A pacer role is not that easy as seen. A lot of sacrifices for months before making it at the starting point. Every pacer is trying to do their best, some maybe more experienced and others new in this trade. At the end of the day, it is the runners who should be benefiting from the pacers. ^_^

I would like to thank Kayano for helping out with the balloons in the morning. Kayano did not run but still offered to help fill up balloons for the pacers and taking pictures of them. So i consider him one of the pacers, Kayano Bro, you're a great guy (and i think that's an understatement), thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart. :)

fyi, Kayano is the Team FatBird Pacers startline coordinator and manager....without him, FatBird Pacers would not have the peace of mind to deliver their targets....Kayano, you are surely an integral part of Team FatBird...cheers!

As per normal, am cursing myself at 30km mark, swearing off ever putting on my running sneakers again. Post run, suddenly it doesn't look too bad! Started off with Brokie, Vincent and Benny in the 5hr pace group. Hung with them for the first 8km, decided to pick up the pace (just a little) as legs were feeling pretty ok. In the end, still my slowest marathon time ever, but all things considered, am happy with it.

5 hr pace group, thanks for the company. Its hard enough to follow a pace group, let alone lead one. Kudos and thanks again.
