I want to join but not this Sat seem like another AHM my leg can't take it :)

Quincy... those are Pacers Training Schedules... Pacers must trained harder so that pace others properly!!! :tongue_smilie:

I suggest U do this Sat Run at yr own comfortable pace .. learn to listen to yr body ... start to prepare n condition her for yr maiden marathon... i suggest U just clock time (2hrs) at yr own SF pace n not worry abt distance.. make yr U-turn aft 1 hr . Explain more when we meet.. :)

Yo Cookie ...

so tonight the run is 7-12km .. meeting at the Fat Bird statue is it? .. (is that place called River Promenade?) ...

should be able to be there around 6pm ...

the pacer folks won't be joining the i-run is it? ...

for some strange reason my foot arch is a bit sore ... (maybe that explains my spastic kicking during swim) ...

see u later dude (PS: will be quite slow poke tonight though)

Regards

Alex

hahaa wasnt hilly. but i think its my fault i was so disappointed i dint bother to stretch after the run..

ah ummm... maybe that is why... i did not stretch too... Haiz. How come so many mistakes.

BTW, the schedule looks nice. Means that Fatbird will increase the route a little? How about the regulars for I-run that not prepared for SCSM??

DO sifu: what time the Irun at International Business park starts?? 6pm sharp?? We can never catch u guys at the Ulu pandan canal...

hi cokiee, the ECP skating rink is it the one near mcdonalds?

Hi there, yes the rink is the one near McDonalds! (: We'll be gathered around the footpath near the rink.

Yes do listen to DO - another way is to do the long runs in terms of hours (which i can include next week, after i figure out how to present it such that there are no confusions).

But DO is right - this one published is the Marathon Pacers' schedule, and unfortunately pacers have to run to distance la. (:

Hey man - yes the run is still on. Essentially pacers who come for the tues training may be starting earlier, and covering a route that may or may not overlap the i-run route (:

Nono - the I-runs will still be I-runs (: That won't change for now. Essentially the pacers might be doing an additional distance, which may or may not cover the i-run route. teehee!

Hey Cokiee,

is there a link to the complete training schedule? Would like to plan ahead if possible. Sat morning runs look attractive.

Hey dkw! (:

At this moment I will be updating the programme on a weekly basis, but essentially the first 4 weeks of the training programme will be base, to get the body used to the increased load.

Not to worry though - i promise you the principles of specificity and controlled overloading have been followed =X

Base training is highly agreeable to me.

    • Slightly OT, but from the Straits Times article quoted by Lady Ice: A time of 2:46:57 is fast of course. Impossibly fast for a slow runner like me, but whenever I look at race results from marathons elsewhere in the world, and compare it to the times of our best runners of countries in Southeast Asia, even if one were to exclude the times of African runners from the equation, our runners here in SE Asia appear to be outclassed. I've always wondered why???¬†ūü§Ē Even in Japanese marathons, the Japanese winner's times are usually at 2:30++ on average. • SCSM T shirts are also usually sold at the pre-race expo, not just in SCSM but also other IAAF certified¬†marathons in other parts of the world. The actual finisher shirt handed to you at the finish line¬†is of course¬†different though. I have nothing against those who want to buy a souvenir¬†or presents for family and friends back home, but I strongly believe¬†finisher shirts should be earned. Medals are usually just made of cheap metal or plastic, but to a runner, that "token" represents all the blood sweat and tears¬†¬†you put into finishing the race. I don't remember where I read this, but there was this story about a guy whose wife completed her first marathon in Chicago. He told his friend: "I just bought her an expensive designer bag. That finisher certificate she¬†got from completing the marathon probably cost the organizers a few cents to print.¬†If she had to choose between the two¬†of which to keep though, I know it would be that finisher's certificate & medal on our wall!"¬†ūü•ī
