Hi hi everyone,

I believe there are quite a few runners in this area. I am training for AHM. Anyone keen to form a group to run at least every sat morning from now until 24Aug? It is a kind of dangerous to run alone at 6:30am in the morning or 8-9pm at nights. So why not we gang up and run together? :)

I am a slow runner. 7-9km/hr. lol.

Route: Ulu Pandan/Botanic garden/Holland road/Tanglin road/Clementi/NUS etc, you name it :).

Distance: 15-20km.

I cannot join the runs at SP and CBD since they clash with my gym.

Cool!!! Just nice for me. I was planning to go jogging tomorrow morning.

I used to go there every Mon, Wed and Fri as well, but now trying to explore nearby routes. The Tanglin side is very nice to run too :).

I normally don't look at ppl, esp guys when I run, except when running on the road in case I bump into them. haha. Can be quite exposed :P

u train with ur hydration bag on???? how u u take to hit 20-30km ah ?

I bought 2 bottles of 100plus, then put behind a tree. haha. At 10km, I stopped to drink a bit. lol. I think maybe will get the hydration bell soon.

Anyway, I got some cuts from the knee guard on right leg. And a bad abrasion on the left arm. Sigh. Next time will be no more handphone, or whatever. Wonder how not to get abrasion on the arm area. Will wearing those tight fit will help??? Today I purposely wore a bigger shirt to be more comfortable, but was worse....Forgot to apply the Vaseline sob sob.

i was @ clementi ytd, the ulu pandan park connector from creative to clemnti and clementi to bunoona vista.... but performance wise i was very slow .... theres huge difference off my timming from SD, but i had no 100+ and took 2 pack of gel and 1 banana for the training.....i am also training for NF 100... very worried for the cut off point....

same too, but compteitive reason is good, just like got a lilttle of pressure makes u improve.... =D

for 26 th july and 12 july.... both sat i jog in the morning.... and i will put in a few more morning training.... weekdays i get tired/lazy to train.... so the sat i train.... but i start from my house to any venue......oh yes... in time to come... i can train with my partner ... haha

was there around 830+++

haha, I think i saw u too, but cannot remember what u wore :D. Next time should tighten your hydration bag. I saw u holding to it while running. lol. so cute. First time running with the bag? :D. I am thinking about getting a belt instead. hehe.

    • Actually, one of the things I always look forward to in coming over for SCSM would be carboloading at some hawker stall. Once, after asking for a sixth order of rice, the uncle who owned the place just exclaimed  "哇!!!" (Waah!) 🤣 The only problem is that there always seems to be new construction constantly in Singapore. One place I ate at before was already closed with a new building being built over it the next time I came back, so its hard to have a favorite place to eat.
    • Now, what I'm going to say next may be a somewhat unpleasant topic among runners, but the reality is that among fellow athletes.... there are some who cheat. 🤔  Although this has been minimized now in modern races with timing mats/chips and vigilant marshalls on the course, in less sophisticated events, some dishonest runners take shortcuts, surreptitiously exchange bibs with a faster runner somewhere along the course (so their times come out better), and in one ultra, board their support vehicle when they think nobody is looking, then get off 10-20km later down the road! I don't know what goes on in the mind of those dishonest people who later claim their finisher shirts and medals just so they can brag on their social media accounts of something they did not rightfully accomplish. They are only fooling themselves. They may be actually very few in number, but if they are so thick skinned to be able to do that in a real race, how much more in a virtual one based on an honesty system? They may have  rode a bycycle, or used roller skates/ a skateboard for all we know! IMHO, that is why a medal/finisher shirt from an actual race will always command more respect and honor amongst us runners than that from a virtual one.    
    • I agree. Crossing the finish line at SCSM by analogy, would be like earning a diploma from NUS, while a virtual run on the other hand, would be like getting a certificate of some online course from some shady internet school. You may have truly done the coursework and gained the appropriate learning in both cases, but when you present your documents to a potential employer, the former will be solid proof of your accomplishment and hard work compared to the latter.  
    • I like this statement: We all look forward to a positive future and I believe that this is a great first step in that direction. Marathon is a sport whereby elite athletes and fun runners are actually racing in the same race. It's what makes our sport unique and I find the essence of this to be beautiful.
