Welcome to one of the hill-iest and slope-ist running areas in Singapore.....it is a sheer joy just thinking how you all prance around....I will go down this Sunday for half the distance lah :)

haha..thanks sifu!

yeah. very very hilly.

HV group used to run at MF every week last year, but we ran slowly up, and no one dared to yell if I slow down the pace  . Now cannot... haha..

Hopefully I can make my way down at least once a week for a more pro run :)

I heard they running 26km or sth this sun. I am not ready yet, so don't dare to try. haha...

Senza... U will flying up the hills in no time... ^_^ we are planning to do shorter recovery run 8-12km there this sunday.. :)

Nancy like that easier mah. Since it is your first time, do be a bit early so can look out for people in a group gather somewhere in the compound as well to do your own warm up. It is better to join the first run with them on a weekend as you got more time to lay back a bit familiarize yourself with the place as well as do registration for the safra running club that entitle you to some privileges.

However, if you are not comfortable with the distance that they do and want to call it a day, don't hold back, tell the few trainer. Someone will guide u back if you are not familiar with the area. The stops and break is also to help runners in the group in trouble play catch up as well as a relaxing run.

wat's FatTrim pace?

6:30-7:30min pace.

But for hilly route like last nite, it is more like sprinting for me :LMAO: . I swear I could not breath anymore last nite after 2 loops :LMAO: . hahaha.

I'll look out for u the next run. hahah.... ur fren is really hardcore too :Applause: .

U have yet to run at I-run. DR, DO are very good trainer too. U know how I encourage my gf to run whenever I go there to run??? " hey, run faster, keep up the pace, if u stop now, I would call my fren over there *pointing to DO, DR who are shouting, "good pace, keep up, good pace"* to run with u" :LMAO: . She would beg me not to since it is so embarrassing to her to trouble ppl... hahaha... and they are really really nice. lol.....

Senza... U will flying up the hills in no time... ^_^ we are planning to do shorter recovery run 8-12km there this sunday.. :)

what's the route like, sifu??? U all gonna run the Telok blangah hills only?

Last time I would jump up and down if someone asked me to run 26km. Now I would curse the person instead :LMAO:

i think you can just go during their training and register.. I want to join but i think the timing is a problem for me now.

yeah... as what Bug said, just come and run first... No need to register. But the registration fee is really cheap. So should support the club too...

Yes, Safra Sunday training is good. The runners are progressively faster than before. I have met some MF runners along the mid point at Havelock area when I ran back from i-run to home.

Wukong, hearing and understanding from your current status....you can do a 3-5km and u-turn back, not a problem, as long as you know the way back to the MF club. But if you go up to the hill, then this is a diff story. You need to take extra care if you have not done it especially coming down from the hill.

    • Was looking forward to the actual run as I've never participated in this event before. Completed the 21km virtual run yesterday. Initially thought was only given 2 weeks to upload result which would be unfairly difficult given the short notice if one has not been running regularly. Fortunately, I've been running 21km every weekend since March. First time did 2x 21km within 4 days. Thankfully my Plantar Fasciitis is still holding up.
    • OhMyGod, 50 pushups, well done ūüĎć ¬† Saw Lexus Tan facebook, he own self say know qi gong,¬†can apply.¬† ¬† I scare scare, should I call?¬†
    • Slightly OT, but from the Straits Times article quoted by Lady Ice: A time of 2:46:57 is fast of course. Impossibly fast for a slow runner like me, but whenever I look at race results from marathons elsewhere in the world, and compare it to the times of our best runners of countries in Southeast Asia, even if one were to exclude the times of African runners from the equation, our runners here in SE Asia appear to be outclassed. I've always wondered why???¬†ūü§Ē Even in Japanese marathons, the Japanese winner's times are usually at 2:30++ on average. Are we at some disadvantage because we live in a hot climate, compared to those in temperate countries? When I mentioned to a runner from Victoria (AUS) that I usually run in temps of¬†27-33C, his jaw dropped...
    • SCSM T shirts are also usually sold at the pre-race expo, not just in SCSM but also other IAAF certified¬†marathons in other parts of the world. The actual finisher shirt handed to you at the finish line¬†is of course¬†different though. I have nothing against those who want to buy a souvenir¬†or presents for family and friends back home, but I strongly believe¬†finisher shirts should be earned. Medals are usually just made of cheap metal or plastic, but to a runner, that "token" represents all the blood sweat and tears¬†¬†you put into finishing the race. I don't remember where I read this, but there was this story about a guy whose wife completed her first marathon in Chicago. He told his friend: "I just bought her an expensive designer bag. That finisher certificate she¬†got from completing the marathon probably cost the organizers a few cents to print.¬†If she had to choose between the two¬†of which to keep though, I know it would be that finisher's certificate & medal on our wall!"¬†ūü•ī
    • I‚Äôm not a local, so I didn‚Äôt know the story about that pastry chef, but the link to the Straits Times article was an amusing read. It said he picked up running in 2011, and only runs 1 km at each time (!?!?!?) on weekends, yet he managed to cover ¬†19kms in an actual race before giving up. I suspect though he probably walked most of that. If he could cover that distance running without training though, he must be either gifted, or very fit from another sport or life activity. Imagine what he would actually be capable of if he just took the time to train properly!
