Thanks to all for the nice run :smilie_daumen1: .

The pace and distance (6.5 km) was good for recovery (something which I need). Nice meeting all the sgrunners members (brokie, sotong, Tiwazz, Tigger, tekko, charlotte, roonz, ronnie, meteor, alvo, dasher, shut, petia, asturias, terence and others, my apologies :im Not Worthy: if I can't remember your names or nick).

Sigh, could not join you guys and gals for the makan session. Hope you all enjoy the food.

How was the Onde Onde and Tapioca Kueh??

Cheers

So sorry that I couldn't join you guys and gals for the run and makan. The CBD run is special for me as it was my initiation into SG Runners. Met most of you wonderful bunch of runners at some stage of the CBD run.

Hope the anniversary run was great for everyone.

Cheers and see all of you next tuesday.

OKay, now my turn.

Just before we said goodbye, IMD said to me that I made a rare appearance last night. Heh heh... yes indeed. Sorry folks, a bit difficult for me to do weeknight runs with all of you la. :tongue_smilie: This is my 3rd appearance and each time I come, there is always so much fun and laughter.... and each time I come, the group gets bigger!

Again I picked up a guy along the way to the CBD Run. Ha! Not really la. We were heading the same and he tapped me on my shoulder because I was in Sgrunners running gear. He didn't know the meeting place so I "led a lost sheep"! He was Asturias! A fine young man who is the architect and engineer of our younger generations.

A few of us said to each other that there were many new faces and we didn't know them at all. So instead of guessing who is who or letting the new-comers feel left out, I introduced myself, shook hands... then refused to let go and dragged them to sit in a row for a pic. Heh! Sorry if I had caused any embarrassment to any of you ok. Like that, you will know who I am now.... but sorry ah, I can't remember all of you!

Can't thank all. But let me mention some names. Great job done by LittleTigger, Xsuanjing and Tiwazz. Without them, I think I won't be doing the CBD Run till last night. Thanks Sotong for the damn exclusive pocket calendar...... sorry limited edition, no more liao! And thank you everyone present last night for the fun and laughter and the food. Yum Yum! :yummie: And sorry my barley wasn't cold enough last night. Next time I make better jug okay.

I ran with my Black Baby. Hm.... haven't done this for a long time. Running up and down taking pic..... very "chuan" you know...... machiam doing interval.... machiam doing fartlek..... haiyo..... And so very sorry, my Black Baby not very good for night shots so the pictures are not really that great. Also, night photography is not easy ok.... and what's more? I was RUNNING and SNAPPING okay! I've done some editing (that took me the whole morning hor!) and they are ready to be view.

Click here ----> HAPPY VIEWING

    • Was looking forward to the actual run as I've never participated in this event before. Completed the 21km virtual run yesterday. Initially thought was only given 2 weeks to upload result which would be unfairly difficult given the short notice if one has not been running regularly. Fortunately, I've been running 21km every weekend since March. First time did 2x 21km within 4 days. Thankfully my Plantar Fasciitis is still holding up.
    • OhMyGod, 50 pushups, well done ūüĎć ¬† Saw Lexus Tan facebook, he own self say know qi gong,¬†can apply.¬† ¬† I scare scare, should I call?¬†
    • Slightly OT, but from the Straits Times article quoted by Lady Ice: A time of 2:46:57 is fast of course. Impossibly fast for a slow runner like me, but whenever I look at race results from marathons elsewhere in the world, and compare it to the times of our best runners of countries in Southeast Asia, even if one were to exclude the times of African runners from the equation, our runners here in SE Asia appear to be outclassed. I've always wondered why???¬†ūü§Ē Even in Japanese marathons, the Japanese winner's times are usually at 2:30++ on average. Are we at some disadvantage because we live in a hot climate, compared to those in temperate countries? When I mentioned to a runner from Victoria (AUS) that I usually run in temps of¬†27-33C, his jaw dropped...
    • SCSM T shirts are also usually sold at the pre-race expo, not just in SCSM but also other IAAF certified¬†marathons in other parts of the world. The actual finisher shirt handed to you at the finish line¬†is of course¬†different though. I have nothing against those who want to buy a souvenir¬†or presents for family and friends back home, but I strongly believe¬†finisher shirts should be earned. Medals are usually just made of cheap metal or plastic, but to a runner, that "token" represents all the blood sweat and tears¬†¬†you put into finishing the race. I don't remember where I read this, but there was this story about a guy whose wife completed her first marathon in Chicago. He told his friend: "I just bought her an expensive designer bag. That finisher certificate she¬†got from completing the marathon probably cost the organizers a few cents to print.¬†If she had to choose between the two¬†of which to keep though, I know it would be that finisher's certificate & medal on our wall!"¬†ūü•ī
    • I‚Äôm not a local, so I didn‚Äôt know the story about that pastry chef, but the link to the Straits Times article was an amusing read. It said he picked up running in 2011, and only runs 1 km at each time (!?!?!?) on weekends, yet he managed to cover ¬†19kms in an actual race before giving up. I suspect though he probably walked most of that. If he could cover that distance running without training though, he must be either gifted, or very fit from another sport or life activity. Imagine what he would actually be capable of if he just took the time to train properly!
