In fact if you want a Full Marathon, VR 10, VR 11, VR 12, VR 13 may be FM Combination...

VR 10 (this Weekend) longest is 15KM, VR 11 - 13, should be a 10KM, 16 or 17 or 18KM and 21KM..

SCSM VR Collector's Medal Series ($99) looks more attractive than the SCSM Grand Finale VR Single ($60) and Double Up ($65).

just to get consensus from all:

1) are you excited, so-so, or disappointed by the SCSM 2020 Grand Finale Week announcement?

2) what have you sign-up for and are you going to pay for the Challenge Bundle?

to start off, uncle is very disappointed there is no FM.

uncle signs up 21KM + 10KM [SCSM Grand Finale VR Double Up Challenge] just for good Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Fun...

Not paying for this one...

double-up.jpg

The Weekly SCSM Virtual Club VR and Challenge Events have kept uncle prepared and ready for any Ultra Distance VR events...

uncle going for this one tommorrow...LAST one of the WMM 2020 Virtual Race...

"Run for Medal (Marathon) " - There is no time limit. However, runners must complete the full 26.2-mile distance in a single run activity during one calendar day and upload the activity to Strava.

VirtualNYCityM-Apps.jpg

Because of Covid-19 Pandemic when ALL Races have been cancelled, and there is no Local Virtual Races (Challenges) that has exceeded beyond Half-marathon distance, the closest being 2020 STVR 17.5KM which ended on 23 Oct.

Besides, SCSM Virtual Club which started 10 weeks ago with VR (weekends) and Challenges (weekday), these sessions are not FM-ready.

Note: Kid's Virtual Races also completed (1.5KM and 3KM)

You need at least 2 months of Preparation and Progressive Runs both in Distance and Duration.

Last week VR 9 Double-Up Challenge...we completed 13KM + 8KM = 21KM VR Double-up with 2 Sessions.

Perhaps, uncle provides this info...how then should we prepare for Marathon Virtual Race...

run-for-medal.jpg

Participant can opt for 50% discount on online Coaching Essentials to prepare for Marathon...

Enough said, uncle better prepare for tomorrow with the FM Virtual Run with Medal which uncle wants for 2020...have a great weekend! 😃

Uncle - Aunty make one for you that I intend to do on the 6th Dec:

26 miles in 24 -26 hours.

If 24 hours - do 3 miles for the first hour and then one mile an hour thereafter.

- For each mile you must plant a tree or a shrub of some sort to highlight the importance of vegetation in our world for our lungs and to negate the effects of pollution

- During each mile - you can litter pick to clean the mile.

- Thereafter - repair something, repurpose something, renew something.... ya know Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose

Hope more of you will join me for this special event for our finale for the Covid year :)

create avatars and see themselves compete with fellow runners in real-time, backed by various in-video features that re-create elements of the race experience.

-indoor augmented reality categories, they will be able to do so by downloading the Rouvy mobile application on their smart devices and using foot pods while running on a treadmill. Foot pods, which are devices attached to shoes, must be used because they track cadence, which other devices such as smart watches do not. Cadence refers to the number of steps that a runner takes a minute.

- Alternatively, participants may book an augmented reality run at one of 12 ActiveSG sport centres around the island through the ActiveSG app.

actually for Triathletes, we use Rouvy for biking...not so much for Running....Ironman Bike Distance 112-mile (180.25 km)...cut-off time is 8 hours 10 minutes

app was recently introduced in October - Great news for runners and triathletes who welcome to add indoor running into their training regimen.

No FM!

Register at SCSM Virtual Club for 21KM + 10KM [VR Double-UP]

Option: Pay $65 for the Double Up Challenge Bundle (Prize) at this link: http://bit.ly/scsm2020raceentitlement

This is quite sad... I thought we would be able to use the coins that we have clocked from the weekly challenges to offset part of the cost... but they made a separate store for the entitlements for the finale challenge...

Anyway since you are buying the VR medal bundle, don't forget to exchange for the VR store discount with your coins...

it is a computerised with bluetooth which unfortunately it is proprietary...cannot run of Windows BLE...think of it as a simulator...

for bike...we use the POD attached to shoes...interact with another device which measures our cadence.. the VR is with for demonstration...because to simulate REAL VR route and REAL avatar in REAL time...it is a challenging for the system...

better take outdoor run with phone apps... at least it is GPS-enabled...and most of the time...accurate and real.

    • Yes. Some experts say that their best bet with these first generation vaccines is that while they may not stop you from getting sick, or infecting others, it will at least reduce its lethality, and possibly help you avoid the long term effects of getting an infection (myocarditis, etc.). If getting vaccinated means turning a (potentially) lethal "viral pneumonia" into something like just a bad cold, then I'd say its worth a shot (no pun intended). And since you may still be infectious, and can cause the death of someone (elderly, with health problems, etc.) who isn't vaccinated, one must still wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
    • The world is practically... at war. I know that may sound a bit "over the top" for you guys there in SG, but even with just 257+ active cases, a strong government (relatively) free of corruption, and the financial capability to vaccinate the entire 5.5M+ population, the economic impact of this pandemic is devastating (just like during the great world wars). I'm pretty sure you guys feel the pinch there too. It may not be as bad even over here (our active caseload is actually lower than that of Malaysia) and certainly much less than in Europe and the Americas (North and South) but my main point is, we are all interconnected in our suffering. We are all taking a hit one way or another, and the enemy... is not only stubborn, but seems to be getting stronger. 😯 I keep remembering the alien autopsy scene in the movie Independence Day. When they try to reason with the alien and ask "What is it you want us to do?" The alien, speaking as a collective, gives a one word reply: "DIE..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlawibQ_QKI    (push the video to 0:29 to go direct to what I'm saying)
    • An interesting note for Team sgRunnersUnited members, Last year we had 3 Teams for this World Online Ekiden Global Race [FOC] In Japan, coming soon in 2021... Per Team Registration in 2021 is...
    • Went down to SPH last weekend to collect the finisher items. It was held in their auditorium with about 7 or 8 small counters and their staff behind a screen. There was a small queue forming but everyone kept their social distance and things were moving fast. Collection was done in less than 10 minutes. They gave a small goodie bag with 100 plus and some sponsor's snack items. But of course I was only interested in completing the trinity medal.
    • Long haul is right... Given the current situation, even with countries ramping up vaccination, I don't think any runs will open up to international participants this year, so no more overseas runs till next year, and that's hoping for the best.  I just wish that by December we can look forward to SCSM being able to conduct a mass run of some sort and we can re-live the experience of attending and completing a run as a community.
