First, sorry for the double/triple posts. Pls reply in this thread. I have already informed Mods to delete the other 2 posts. 🙇‍♂️

Car Park B is like literally on the opposite side of Sheng Shiong right?

Thank you for the update. Actually I was waiting for this event.

But this year the venue changed to Bedok Reservoir Park (1/2 loops), no more at Punggol Waterway, no more 8.88KM... 😅

Yeah. And actually, the distance 8.18km and not 8.88km.

8.88km was another race organised by Pink Apple one or two year back.

I went to this event last year at Punngol. Well managed. As far as I remember, I think there was a finisher shirt for the runners too.

The medal was well designed too. Can collect all 12 pieces if you start going next year!

Finisher Tee was only for the Dog year. This year dun have finisher tee. Next year also no finisher tee.

Yes! Next year is a new cycle. And I really want to try collecting all 12 pieces!

Any links to see the medals that were given out in the previous years?

I participated this race in the past two years. The quality of medal is quite good, "ELM" level.

Or maybe too early to say that?.............

I won't be surprise to see runners wearing masks. Well, and why not if they feel safe and able to continue running.

The race has now been cancelled.

Understandable given the situation but really sad about it cos I was looking forward to continue with the zodiac medal.

Those who signed up for the 8.6km can collect the race medal. But I haven't decide if I want to collect a race medal for a race I did not run.

Maybe I go run on my own 8.6km, treat it as a virtual race. Then I wouldn't feel so bad about collecting the medal.

i think you should since one medal less means incomplete zodiac series... and you need 12 years to be able to get the same back again....

Agree. Collect the medal and run the exact route and distance on your own.

As of now, just the small photo on the 1st post in the poster.

*cough* *cough* ELM medal? No way lah. At least not for a race that cost $15.

Pls note that I am not saying that CSCs (aka neighbourhood runs) organised races does not give ELM medal. The now retired Jurong Lake Run is organised by Taman Jurong CSC was an ELM medal race.  :bling:Of cos, the race fee was closer to a commercially organised race than a neighbourhood race but that's another matter altogether.

Yup yup...its a run that I missed totally partly cause I feel there is no pt for me to collect part of the series only... so didnt join year after year.

    • Slightly OT, but from the Straits Times article quoted by Lady Ice: A time of 2:46:57 is fast of course. Impossibly fast for a slow runner like me, but whenever I look at race results from marathons elsewhere in the world, and compare it to the times of our best runners of countries in Southeast Asia, even if one were to exclude the times of African runners from the equation, our runners here in SE Asia appear to be outclassed. I've always wondered why??? 🤔 Even in Japanese marathons, the Japanese winner's times are usually at 2:30++ on average. Are we at some disadvantage because we live in a hot climate, compared to those in temperate countries? When I mentioned to a runner from Victoria (AUS) that I usually run in temps of 27-33C, his jaw dropped...

    • SCSM T shirts are also usually sold at the pre-race expo, not just in SCSM but also other IAAF certified marathons in other parts of the world. The actual finisher shirt handed to you at the finish line is of course different though. I have nothing against those who want to buy a souvenir or presents for family and friends back home, but I strongly believe finisher shirts should be earned. Medals are usually just made of cheap metal or plastic, but to a runner, that "token" represents all the blood sweat and tears  you put into finishing the race. I don't remember where I read this, but there was this story about a guy whose wife completed her first marathon in Chicago. He told his friend: "I just bought her an expensive designer bag. That finisher certificate she got from completing the marathon probably cost the organizers a few cents to print. If she had to choose between the two of which to keep though, I know it would be that finisher's certificate & medal on our wall!" 🥴
    • I’m not a local, so I didn’t know the story about that pastry chef, but the link to the Straits Times article was an amusing read. It said he picked up running in 2011, and only runs 1 km at each time (!?!?!?) on weekends, yet he managed to cover  19kms in an actual race before giving up. I suspect though he probably walked most of that. If he could cover that distance running without training though, he must be either gifted, or very fit from another sport or life activity. Imagine what he would actually be capable of if he just took the time to train properly!
