[COMMENT] The hardcore would be pleased for another Ultra events. Not sure how pleased they will be that EPIC-ESR is the organiser. For the uninitiated, they are the same guy who has ever only organised one and only one event all year every year for a few years now - Marina Run. I ran once in that race and swore never to run another race organised by them. Other seems to have a more positive race experience so YMMV.

The Marina Run organizer??? All the warning signs are out. Looks like i'll most likely sit out this one and see how it goes before deciding if i'm be signing up next one....IF there is a next one.

Interesting. It carries the 2XU brand name.

1) Sundown organisers have cited reasons of low take up rate for discontinuing sundown ultra marathon. Now, this race also has 100km and 50 categories. But they added in the HM and 10k to add in the economies of scale.

2) what will happen to the 2XU compression run? Maybe they think they can pull it off without cannibalizing each other.

3) no details yet except for run categories esp cut-off times etc. how to "pre-register" or sign up without such details beforehand? Haha

shall wait and see.

I believe the 2XU brand here speaks only about the apparel brand sponsor.. the more runs sponsored by them, the happier they may be...

Being the only organizer for a race that has ran continuously for so many years, it means that they are still making money in the Marina Run. Knowingly that this race is not sustainable, they ventured out into another new event and hope to attract a different crowd...

No details of the running singlet and finisher tee and the pre-registration already asking people to select the size....

Epic ESR is smart in the sense that they go after the target audience that is untapped... Marina Run makes money for them because they know there are runners who will want to try for a PB in a evening setting on a relatively flat path. Won't be surprised if this flags off at night and 50km and 100km running in loops.

In the meantime I have no confidence in them to organize a good FM/Ultra... shall wait and see next year...

After hearing all the advice from all the bros here, Noobie would have to agree. Noobie will also sit this race one out. Although it is interesting that brand sponsor is 2xu as the Marina Run was brooks.

Deal breaker for Noobie to run this race is if ELM medal, cool design of finisher tee and interesting race route.

Other than that can count Noobie out too.

Road or trail race also not sure ? This date used to be TNF100 race. Picture showed running into forest ? But 20hrs cut-off time for 100km probably is for road.

TNF100km cut off is 18 hours.

But agree that the picture of a forest might be indicative of a trail run.
