Taipei Standard Chartered Marathon 2015

Recommended Posts

Anyone planning to go for this one? If online sources are accurate, this event should be taking place on 8 February 2015 (link: http://www.distancer...ces/10039.html)

Their website is currently still showing the 2014 information: http://www.scbmarath.../eng/about.html

Think this will be a good alternative, especially for those who missed the StanChart HK 2015 registration. :turned:

If it does happen, this would be the 2nd edition and from the race reviews this year, the race management wasn't very ideal. Hope it will be a better race experience for next year.

More keen to join Fubon marathon which has a longer history and more well received. But for either of the run, it is something that slow runners like me need to train hard for. Cut off time of 5 hours 30 mins is pretty stressful.

Usually registration for CTRRA races (such as Fubon Taipei Marathon and Taipei Standard Chartered Marathon) tend to start very late.

So if Taipei SCM is going to be held in February, most likely the registration will only start in November or December at the earliest.

Yup. But some of them registration fill up quite quickly.

Best is to sign up as a member of the CTRRA and you will get email alerts when registration is open.

Seems that the "Race Events in Taiwan" webpage had just added 2015 Taipei Standard Chartered Marathon into the list, which is stated to be held on 08 Feb 2015 (Sunday). Probably will get more info from the official website in the near future.

(Just for info, the registration for the 2014 race held on 23 Feb 2014 was only started on 17 Dec 2013.)

Only 3,000 slots for FM?? :startle:

Quality rather than trying to make more than a $1m profit like in Singapore. Not so jam after the first 500m.

How about the race route... flat or hilly or slopes.... anyone had previous experience and can provide some insights? ?

Race route information is found in Stan Chartered Taipei website with no info on elevation. (http://www.scbmarathon.com/info-2.html)

From past race photos, it looks like another road marathon. (http://www.scbmarathon.com/carnival-4.html)

Definitely like the Taipei's SCM race singlet and the finisher's entitlement better than SCMS! (http://www.scbmarathon.com/carnival-1.html). Look at the 紀念賽衣 (commemorative shirts/singlets) and 完跑禮 (finishers' entitlements)

I tried to register Taiwan March race, all categories full.

Heard from Taiwanese friends, many races these days are filled up pretty fast.

FYI mine is not an international popular event ~
