What horrible race organisation and experience.
For the first 200m, many runners literally have to walk as the lanes were too congested and crowded to run.
The congestions and bottlenecks continued throughout the race. 5 km and 10 km runners running in opposite directions competed for space in or running space throughout the route. This is not helped by cyclists and visitors to Gardens by the Bay blocking the path of the runners.
The marshals kept asking staff runners to keep to their lanes but the fact is, runners from both sides are running out of space to run.
I saw a 10 km leading runner shouting at pedestrians to clear the path as they were slowing him down.
Not the best Pocari Sweat Run Race. I think the last 2 years were much better due to not much bottlenecks and wider running paths. This year the running path is simply too narrow and some passerbys in the Gardens By the Bay area tried to walk across the runner's traffic. But it's nice try for a change of environment. The area around MBS was my fave running spot. And on a sidenote, I get to high 5 my running idol Dr Mok Ying Ren during the start of the race.
Maybe race organisers should start to limit the number of participants in their event. I believe there's constantly an increase of runners from each year. (Singapore is way boring hence the rise of number of runners LOL)
