The NorthFace Singapore City Race - 3 Mar 2013

52 posts in this topic

First time seeing North Face being the title sponsor of a local urban race...but this sounds like an urban race with a twist. Pretty interesting.

this kind of race, organiser is very "sian nang".....

no need for road closure.

no need for direction board.

no need to put distance marker. no complain from runners on inaccurate distance marker....

only need to have water point near the checkpoint....

If you guys served your NS under 3rd Division, I guess you are familiar with their Tiger Trail event. This run is very similar.

What if participants take public transport or other means as shortcuts between check points? Allowed?

if want to cheat and still win the prize, then better dun get caught lor...

might as well ask some friends to standby a few cars to ferry to control point....

I mean, how is the organisers going to look out for such cheats?

i guess they won't be able to. simply not enough manpower.

based on the belief that most of the runners will be honest and not attempt to cheat....

I think in their site they say,

For teams not all members have to cross each check point.

So some can skip lah.

The rules states:

  • Each team can consist of 2 to 6 people.
  • We encourage families to sign-up as a team and children are welcome to participate as long as there is at least 1 team member above 14 years of age.
  • There will only be 1 control card per team.
  • Team members do not have to run together to cross each control point but the control card must be presented at each check-point and all team members must be present when submitting the control card at the finishing point.
  • The control point is successfully crossed as long as 1 member of the team crosses it.
  • All members of the team will receive a Finisher’s medal each when all control points have been successfully completed.

Does this mean team members can take turns to run from checkpoint to checkpoint? Runner A runs to checkpoint 1, pass to runner B, who proceeds to run to checkpoint 2 with the control card), while runner A drives to checkpoint 2 to take over from runner b. Is this allowed???

  • since Team members do not have to run together to cross each control point

  • so members can take turns Running from 1 point to another
  • while some can skip a point or 2 and RUN to the next point.
  • In the end all team members must be present when submitting the control card at the finishing point.
  • If want to cheat take BIKE even faster can what. :turned:

Best would be to ensure that every team members must be present when submitting the control card at each and every control point.

Not just the finishing point !

Have they now changed the event tee to a new design...? Quite nice.

Wah 3/3 clashes with Urbanathlon and probably also Biathlon!

strangely..this forum has started very popular..and quiet after 1.5months..now, in 2-month..this race shall be starting..but, this is like a favourable one for the ladies..and families..and unlike Men's Health Urbanathlon 2013..that one..mancho guys and now ladies..willing to sweat out that ones..why?..because of adidas finisher tees..and the elements of physical challenge..of NS-style..
