Me too. Any team doesn't mind to have an additional member in their 100km challenge do PM me. Thanks.

Hi Hong Chew, if you don't mind, we can try to form a team upfront first, and see if we can find a 3rd member.

bro beast.. uncle looked out for 3rd person to join you to form a team..in other forums..

you cannot believe what uncle just did.. yes..ran the 1/3 of the 100km route..at 10k pace..

START POINT - Raffles Place MRT

CP1 : Mcdonald's @ Ridout Tea Garden (Queensway)

CP2 :McDonald's Place (opp. Nee Ann Poly)

CP3: Ang Mo Kio Hub

uncle uses roads, PCN tracks..except for CP2 to CP3.. uncle uses Rifle Range Road.. cut through MacRitchie..trail run routes (BT Reserve to MR)..straight to Venus CP..heads to Ang Mo Kio Ave 2..Bishan Park..AMK Hub.. instead of Adam, Lornie, Marymount..Bishan Park..AMK Hub

CP1 to CP2.. bukit timah road..mrt under construction..narrow pedestrain pathway..

CP2 to CP3...if follows proper route..feels like U turn bukit timah road..back to Farrer Road..actually opposite of Farrer Road is Adam Road..in order to head to MacRitchie..what a big turn..and that's why uncle decided to "bash through" MacRitchie, from McDonald's Place, head to opp. Bukit Timah Plaza..just enter into BT Reserve.. of course, today see many NF 100 participants..checking out race routes.. oct 13 is actual race day..some got to start oct 12 for longer distance..100km solo..

if you wish there are convenience stores along the way.. forget it.. and place to rest.. PCN tracks benches..ok..hot and sweaty during the day..but, if night..cool and tiring..tempted..but must move on..hunger sure makes your body aching and tiring and mental state - low morale..but for those whom would have pledge for every km of the walk effort.. should be worthwhile..that's why the cause..for charity.

stay on.. uncle shall check out CP3: AMK Hub to CP4: Punggol Point Park to CP5: Pasir Ris MRT..next week..

as for Pasir Ris MRT to End Point - Istana Park (50km).. uncle has done most of that in the last Sundown Ultra Marathon 100km ending marina barrage.. but, just do for fun..part of Standard Chartered Marathon 2012 run..mock warmup..

must agree.. walk 100km is serious matter.. not meant for those who have not done any ultra distance endurance before..some more must work together and look after the physical and mental needs of members within the team.. group dynamics..equally important.. and the time..beyond 24-hour.. respect for those who really sign-up.. :goodjob:

Hi Beast, You did ultra Marathon before? Will you consider 50km?

yap.. it is important to assess fitness and condition of members within the Team.. and also the "feel" within the Team.. already reading the terms and conditions of the event.. in case one Team member is injured or physical not able to complete.. one of the able members must be able to "carry" the responsibility to the next CP..failure in reaching to any CP as a Team is as good as DNF..for safety reason..of course, partial Team can opt to join another Team, what if they're superfit..and some more, your nutrition needs are from the food centres and convenience stores.. so better carry ration on bags which uncle don't do in the recee run for fun session..

from physical fitness assessment.. what uncle did in Start Point - CP3 is a sub 3-hour run effort.. but in walk..that should be 6-7 hours starting effort in hot sunny day.. so this is important for assessment criteria of individual cum team members' physical condition.. and past participants of this event has been known to come from running/fitness clubs ..and some pictures uncle seen.. recognise have participated in ultra distance events, especially the 100km..so don't play play..with some one you don't even know..so it is the Team that is important..of course, it is through Teamwork that is the completion of the 50km or 100km.

Thanks, kohpapa. As a newbie to this, think I will reconsider to do 10km JalanWalk. No good to let team members to wait for me under hot sun:-)

Hi Beast, You did ultra Marathon before? Will you consider 50km?

Nope, didn't join any ultra before. I joined and completed 50km 2 years ago so am looking to try the 100km.

Will respect your decision to go for the 10km if you are not comfortable/confidence of doing the 100km.

bro beast.. thank you for your past experience of 50km.. and uncle has also details of past 100km.. of course, the previous route of 50km that you have covered.. very interesting.. and uncle may "go back to the future" into your 1st 50km (2 years ago)..

yap, uncle covered the route Pasir Ris MRT to ECP Area G..

CP5 / 50km END POINT - Pasir Ris MRT

CP6 - Changi Ferry Terminal

CP7 - East Coast Park Area G

take note.. changi village food and market is under renovation..eat along road kopitiam...changi beach park from car park 6 to Changi Ferry Terminal is under renovation, complete ghost park..with a backup cement path..and of course, Changi Coast Road is one straight 7km stretch with no facilities, planes fly only after 5am along the changi airport takeoff and landing tarmac..except for resting sheds with seats..share food with wild dogs..early morning maybe..

uncle shall be exploring CP4-AMK Hub to CP5-Punggol Point to CP6-Pasir Ris MRT.. next week..especially.. Punggol Point..may route to Sengkang..and head fishfarm way..to Pasir Ris via Tampines Ave 10..

yap, uncle should encourage bro beast to attempt 100km..and if already you have two, can approach organiser to see if other Teams don't mind you to form more than 3..

anyway.. to strategise on the route within Team is important, Team decision is final and believe bro beast has had the experience 2 years ago.. uncle actually took lots of "short-cut"..5% off 100km..some even have to take non-road tracks..based on past run experiences..

ok.. until uncle has finalised all the routes to hit all CPs..with "short-cut"s or not.. uncle may walk/run 100km for fun..a taste of more than 24-hour journey..surviving with no backpacks at all.. just with $$ (buy food and drinks) and common-sense (bring extra tees..for change&comfort..and in case rain)

in the meantime..those going for this event..pledging for funds.. uncle will be "unofficial" route technical advisor..like..want to take free shower,where?.. Pasir Ris Park or Changi Beach or ECP.. plenty.. and want to do "ghost hunting" for entertainment break.. sungei api api at pasir ris or changi beach..always plenty there to play with.. by then 9am start..+ 12-hour++.. CP5-6-7.. should be mid-night..zZZ..uncle got an air-con chalet at Downtown East reserved..$50 if booked by Oct 15th.. otherwise..$60..only for sgRunners..non-members.. $70..

Thanks Kohpapa for your encouragement.

Not sure if it is still possible to form a team of 3 before 15 Oct, since it looks like hongweitan bro is not joining, so I need to find another 2 members.

Agree that it will take group dynamics to finish the race, so it would also be quite difficult to ask another team, who already know each other, to take in a stranger like me.

Wish there is some sort of alternative arrangement . Like allowing individual sign-ups and then “match-make” them into groups.

yap.. 100km.. is no joke.. and that's why this charity run.. is for ultra distance group who had done race before..share passion..and fun time together..do charity together..

don't worry.. uncle is challenged by this forum on the routes of 100km.. although not in charity mode..but more of preparing for ultra run 100km in 2013.. if there is really one next year.. at least.. this route is ok.. and the one that bro beast has gone through 50km previously.. uncle finds 100km route achievable.

perhaps..if this time no individual effort is requested to raise fund..due to the rules of this charity race, safety in Team of 3-6.. then just forget it..if trying means and ways.. important is there will be always another charity walk and run in the future for individual effort.. so have fun in this forum.. and just see if given bro beast had 50km walk experience.. do 100km walk for fun..just CP to CP..

uncle will be challenged from AMK Hub to Changi Ferry Terminal via Punggol Point next.. wish uncle good luck..taking short cut via Pasir Ris Farmway 3..halus..

do with the heart..and if feel not comfortable about the grouping..then like bro blue_crawler.."bad" experience..become a turn-off..hope the organisers can reconsider..about that rule than can chong-walk "individually"..and raise funds..why not..on each other's ability..

I did the 100km walk a few years ago. It is difficult to get a team all at the pace. If someone is NOT walking at his/her nature pace, he/she will feel more tired. I am an ultrawalker, but I will feel tire when shopping with my wife for 2-3 hours :) Therefore, try to get team members that have similar finish time goal. This is a charity event, you don't need to rush. Sundown 100km has a 18hrs cutoff, but this event is 32 hrs cutoff. So, it is very leisure in walking. You can take 30-45 mins break at each checkpoint.

The biggest enemy in walking is blister. You can train your muscle to increase the endurance but difficult to train your feet to reduce blister.

true bro jjchsg.. 100km in any event..whether sundown or even TNF-100.. half way point like at 50km..must have place to makan, bath..but, in this charity one.. organiser..expects..CP only, no special arrangement.. so again.. if team got female and male.. uncle cannot imagine how the synergy works?..assume 16-hr..at 50km.. shirt..sweaty..undie..smelly..need to wash up..and a proper meal..at least hot soup, hotdogs, sandwiches..

it's better to fast fast walk..and finish fast fast..and enjoy the agony of pain and aches later..and better..spa..icy/steamy one..for the sake of post-charity walk celebration..

bro jjchsg..ex-ultra fast walker, ex-100km experience.. and bro beast..another seasoned walker, ex-50km experience..and uncle, 100km ex-run/walk/baby crawl experience..and if 15th Oct..$10 off due to Early bird (otherwise $60)..want to jalan jalan....actually..distance can be lesser..uncle got routes to short-cuts..mcRitchie Rifle Range Road, durain loop, macRitchie reservoir out via venus CP straight to bishan amk park, AMK hub..and the other one is Pasir Ris Farmway 3 from punggol point pcn track..should reach Downtown East..9pm-12 midnight meal, bath, relax, ..all at 50+km point..the rest of the journey..all the way to ECP and endpoint Istana Park..total time 24++hour..can do..of course, uncle's motto "anything is possible"..

important..is team of similar fitness ability and fun..and safety consideration..one for all..all for one..
