With virtual runs getting more popular, I won't be surprised if all 50,000 slots are taken up by UK citizens this year. We shall see on 16 Feb.
Anyway 38 pounds is almost 70 sgd. For 1 medal and shirt. Most certainly not cheap.
From 2021 info...
2021 - 100,000 - Virtual 50,000 and Run in-place 50,000.
just hope uncle is "lucky" to grab a virtual event spot...Try and get it...
like many Popular Overseas Marathon events...join Oversea Run Tours and surely you can pay premium price for both Run in-place or even Virtual Race...😀

In 2019, 414,000 UK citizens balloted for a spot to run at the marathon.
If only 50,000 spots were given, most likely we won't get any spots by the time it opens to international runners.
Unless they reserve a number of spots for international runners to apply on 16 Feb.
It is interesting to observe:
1. The virus is more lethal in Western Countries / Europe than in Asian countries. What are the factors that are defining this?
Sunlight? Activity levels? Diet?
2. To break transmission the entire world population needs to be vaccinated at the same time. As this will not be the case, then will need to topped up each year. This is an interesting article on the vaccination: https://www.politico.eu/article/coronavirus-vaccine-europe-hit-commission-target-rollout-5-times-faster/?fbclid=IwAR3ZDktWDKgS098QJfCBYG5ZRTkc-mR-Rs-wnYdQKzaadSdBqJSwBmK3PMI
