my main purpose of asking on washing is because my colleague garmin 305 seems to have lost its voice. and from his research from the net, it is due to the exposed speaker holes behind the watch. my other runners also have their garmin 305 losing its voice. so that y i ask how u guys "clean", "wash" after every exercise session.

Has anyone experience the the watch being alil slow at detecting the HRM? It used to be quite instant for mine even when im at rest, now the HRM reading will appear once and disappear. Its an on-off thing tho, tried changing battery with the same results. :help:

My had the similar problem, suspecting the sweat that went thru the holes and cause the problem.

My 3months old FR305 bough from amazon vol is getting softer and weaker after each run... i reckon same prob too... email Garmin and they told me to send to Taiwan for servicing.

Wonder anyone here has send before? roughly how much is the cost? Do you think Allbright or Navicom will help?

Has anyone had the rubber button, in particular the enter button starting to wear off?

mine is starting to show wear, the rubber has degraded due to both sweat and old age(got it in 07).

This is 1 month plus late....I did SCMS 2011 FM and my FR305 recorded the whole timing but when I export to GPX file, the display on any GPX compatible software shows I did only ~28km which is around the time I clicked on the LAP button on my watch as entering ECP...where did the missing 14km go?? >.< Anybody can help if I upload the GPX file?

Does the watch data shows 28km as well? I'm thinking if you may have hit the wrong button instead?

Does anyone know where to buy the Forerunner 305 in Singapore? I called a few retailers like R1, no stock and R1 told me the item is obsolete.

    • Slightly OT, but from the Straits Times article quoted by Lady Ice: A time of 2:46:57 is fast of course. Impossibly fast for a slow runner like me, but whenever I look at race results from marathons elsewhere in the world, and compare it to the times of our best runners of countries in Southeast Asia, even if one were to exclude the times of African runners from the equation, our runners here in SE Asia appear to be outclassed. I've always wondered why??? 🤔 Even in Japanese marathons, the Japanese winner's times are usually at 2:30++ on average. Are we at some disadvantage because we live in a hot climate, compared to those in temperate countries? When I mentioned to a runner from Victoria (AUS) that I usually run in temps of 27-33C, his jaw dropped...

    • SCSM T shirts are also usually sold at the pre-race expo, not just in SCSM but also other IAAF certified marathons in other parts of the world. The actual finisher shirt handed to you at the finish line is of course different though. I have nothing against those who want to buy a souvenir or presents for family and friends back home, but I strongly believe finisher shirts should be earned. Medals are usually just made of cheap metal or plastic, but to a runner, that "token" represents all the blood sweat and tears  you put into finishing the race. I don't remember where I read this, but there was this story about a guy whose wife completed her first marathon in Chicago. He told his friend: "I just bought her an expensive designer bag. That finisher certificate she got from completing the marathon probably cost the organizers a few cents to print. If she had to choose between the two of which to keep though, I know it would be that finisher's certificate & medal on our wall!" 🥴
