  3. My take is all of us run for various reasons so no right or wrong here. Some do not wish to pay 'cos running is free or felt that the race is expensive. Some run for experience, ELM medals, streak race etc.

At the end of the day, we run for passion is all that matters.

There is star wars virtual run @ https://starwarsvirtualrunsea-registration.liv3ly.com/

My personal preference for virtual run is it should be at least HM and above and shouldn't cost too much. E.g. I am taking on 'World Cities Online Challenge' by spacebib. It is 42 km and the long distance motivates me to plan multiple runs to complete it.

Virtual runs in a way do instill some kind of discipline, which is good, to complete them.

I have joined virtual run as well & i do agree with you that require some discipline.

But at the end of the day these virtual organizers are still business entity. Reason is they would want to canvass as much runners as possible instead of minimum HM & above runners.

  5. Basically most runners will not bother to read the terms & conditions which include myself honestly. Sign and be there on REPC & actual event.

I also believe that 99.9% organizers will have a clause of no refund if i'm not wrong. I'm talking about general & not due to just COVID-19 only. It can be a heavy thunderstorm on the actual day itself.

So in my opinion if any organizers ie. Sundown, Income ECO etc  that refund will be out of goodwill. Hopefully we runners will remember them and rejoin following year. Unless there is some permanent law ie. Lemon Law to protect runners, we runners have to suck thumb on this matter at the mercy of these unscrupulous organizers.

So if any runners want to sign for any run event, no choice have to open eyes big big to read terms & conditions to know your rights.

From Sunday [April 12], anyone who is not abiding by the CB measures will be fined S$300 for their first offence, instead of being issued with a warning, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli said on Saturday.

Looking at big picture, this should be the way since alot of people simply heck care attitude. If not, never ending story.

I am less optimistic. I say all large scale organised events for the next 6 to 9 months will probably not be held.

All these events (sporting or otherwise) being pushed to the '2nd half' are probably making the same assumption about COVID-19 that is probably going to be wide off the mark. The expectation that like SARS it will just died off, or with the onset of the summer, the virus will be less contiguous etc.

Increasingly, if any meaningful comparison is to be made, it is the Spanish Flu which lasted from January 1918 to December 1920 (a full 3 years!) Perhaps, with our current level of medical technology, we can develop a vaccine faster but looking at the outbreak numbers, expecting things to be back to normal by the 2nd half of the year is unrealistic.

The economic impact of the virus will also probably last for several years. Race participation is a discretionary expense. In the immediate aftermath, even if races are organised, many may not join if the race fee is what it has been for the last 3 to 4 years. It's hard to justify paying $50 for a 10K race or $80 for a HM when you have other concerns.

100% agree. Luckily stuck with two events only. Most likely will not join any further this year unless situation is stabilized.

Does that mean there are less than 250 signing up for the run?

I'm not sure but someone asked at their FB page & they replied yes to go ahead.

Anyway, not counting my chickens first after seeing so many events either cancelled or postponed so far. Lol...

Offical announcement will be better. Cancel or Postpone. Please make sure what is what ok? 2020 Safari Zoo Run (Last Edition) was "Postponed" to 2nd half of 2020 and not "Cancel" hor..

Even if 2nd half of the run events are to be announced in the near or distant future, some are already shouting OMG! no refund! no signup! hor

I believe you have misunderstood what i'm saying. No doubt 2020 Safari Zoo was postponed but i'm not talking about this at all.

This COVID-19 has created chaos  that affected my event Spartan Sprint which was postponed with no date. I'm also not sure if i should register for Spartan Super in Aug & Beast in Nov (to achieve Trifecta) based on current situation. 2nd half year run events i'm referring to ie. TransSingapore, CSC Bay Run etc should i register to take advantage of early bird rate or pay more for late registration?

Situation does not look bright for this year which i agree with lonewolf. So i'm also adopting wait & see attitude at the moment. Delay my decision to register as long as possible. Cheers.

    I say >90% cancelled.

In fact, I think at this point in time, given the current trajectory, it is safe to just assume that NO RACE will be organised until the COVID-19 situation stabilised.

2020 will probably go down in history as the 'forgotten year' in sports. A lot of sports league/season/championship will probably have to be abandoned, including the Big One - Tokyo Olympics.

Agree with you based on current situation & the way things are going. Definitely create chaos for me to achieve Spartan Trifecta this year. Plus 2nd half of the run events that i'm interested in whether to sign or not...
