  1. You will be fine (sounds like you have many mileage under you already). From now til 2 weeks before race day, do more long runs (21 - 27 km).
  2. I think it was meant to force you to "cool down"..hah. It was an opportunity for me to stretch my legs. I did alright, got a local PB despite cramping very hard towards the end. I am not too sure why, because I had 4 gel, 4 salt tablets, and ample hydration. Temperature was rather cool today, but the trade off is humidity. Before I head out, it was like 99% across the race route. I saw at least 6 elites (plus 1 wheelchair athlete) dropping out of the race. One of them dropped out at the 12 km mark! I guess they are not used to the humid weather here. I really like the Westcoast Highway portion of the race. The cool breezy was nice. This edition of SCSM is the best organized race yet. They had hydration on both sides and they were at least 10m in length. I saw plenty of toilets along the route and they were visible signs pointing to them. My only complain is the distance marker, they were a bit too small to see, especially in the dark. Lastly, their app worked fine this year. My wife had no problem tracking me. I hope the organizer keep up this effort for next year and beyond.
  3. The App has been updated with runner's bib number. Good luck to all of you! Looks like it's going to a humid morning (96%).
  4. Just picked up my pack (marathon). It took me just under 10 min. The expo is huge this year, so many vendors. I see more people are coming now, so expect longer waiting time in the evening.
  5. This morning's weather was perfect, hoping next week will be similar!
  6. Thanks, guys. Looks like everyone's opinion is on the West Coast Highway. I sent a message to SCSM just to confirm. I will update here once I get a response. Hopefully everyone took the advantage of this morning's cool temperature. I had a lovely long run, even though 3/4 of it was running in the rain.
  7. Does anybody know whether the West Coast Highway portion of the race will be on the actual highway or below? My gut feeling is telling me it will be below the highway. If that's the case, GPS is pretty much useless for pacing, gonna have to do manual splitting.
  8. I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but it looks like full marathon runners will no longer be merged with half marathon runners until the last 400 m or so. I like it!... Except for the fact that Sheares bridge is still included at 39 km. I guess that's what makes this race challenging.
  9. Got rejected for the third time
  10. I didn't know there was breakfast! I finished around 6:25 am and went directly to the Old Airport Food Centre for a nice bowl of Lor Mee.
  11. Is it me or there was less runners this year? I ran the 18 km race. After the race, I was directed to the staircase, which leads back to the baggage area. I didn't know you could take an alternative.
  12. I thought the main draw of this year's race is finishing inside of the stadium. Judging by their map, it doesn't appear so. Hope I am wrong. Edit: I just checked their FAQ. The finish line will be inside of the stadium. 'The run will flag off at Nicoll Highway and runners will finish inside the National Stadium. More details will be available at a later date.'
  13. Almost 3 month until the marathon and still no announcement on the official route? I can only hope they may be doing something drastically different this year which takes time for LTA to approve ? Last year the official route was revealed on 31 Aug.
  14. First time participating this race. The only bottleneck I encountered was at the start, but that was to be expected. Overall, it was a well originized race. I had a good race. However, I do have one negative experience. I ran to the race village from my home as a warm up. I was surprised to find that they didn't have any hydration stations before the flag off. I asked for water from one guy, but he told me they were not allowed to give out water until 21 km flags off. Luckily, there was a kind gentlemen who gave me a bottle of water. Edit: Another thing I noticed is there were so many porta potties along the route and there were clear signs for them. Not many local races do that.
  15. Aww.. I will miss the dazzling lights at the orchard road. But I am excited to see the new route.
  16. Haha. I can't believe I didn't see it on the map, how embrassing. I guess I was looking too hard. Thank you for the info! you can take a look at the various routes for the water points.. http://www.marathonsingapore.com/race-routes/
  17. This will be my first time doing the Standard Chartered Marthone. I was wondering will there be water stations along the route? I couldn't this information anywhere. Thanks!
