  1. yes..... in fact both 220 and 620 have an on-board accelerometer that is pre-calibrated so even with no gps signals, we would still be able to track our cadence.....
  2. yes.... my reason for running the HM this year (despite running the FM for the past 5yrs.....) is to soak into the atmosphere..... I just cannot imagine myself lying in bed, resting on the morning of the SCMS race, when I know all Singapore runners falling-in at the ending point.... I know I need to run no matter how pissed I am last year..... hahaha....
  3. The Sentosa route is quite nice except for: 1. A bottleneck near the Dolphin lagoon 2. Under ground car park inhaling carbon monoxide from cars and buses 3. The never-ending up-and-down highway from outside Sentosa all the way to the "heart-break" bridge. I find that there should at least 1 more water point along that highway. ok... sounds like there are more issues on this route than the FM route... ok i will experience it this year and have a feel of it..... looks like for pointer 3, i may need to do some hill training...hahahh
  4. i have also downgraded from my last 6 yrs with SCMS on FM to HM this year.... to each his own like what jerrylam mentioned, i felt that its time for me to try out the Sentosa route.... i have started in Orchard road a fair number of times.... so that prompts for a change.....
  5. very nice medals.... and with ELM as the guarantee, the medals would be there to remain..... in this colour and sharpness.....
  6. that's pretty unexpected.... its selling faster than the 21k and 10k..... which is quite different from previous years.....
  7. its basically unsportsmanship.... If these participants can't even show basic social etiquette when queuing for registration, these will probably be the same culprits that have zero running etiquette during race day. Shame on them!! you are right.... and who knows... after they took the premium goodie bag.... and paid $1.... they might just miss the race on the race day.....
  8. its not easy also as they need to "camp" overnight..... give them some credits too......
  9. Worse thing is that there are only a limited lots for each category.. Really unfair like that for runners to cut queue..
  10. Ok... Do not have the need to charge the watch yet..... will do it tomorrow the for the update
  11. I am sure not exceeding the limit of our body is what everyone knows... But would everyone practice that is another issue.. Let's just keep to practicing it as much as possible. .. If wanna run faster... Make sure u train for it... If not.. dun try..
  12. I don't know about the others, but for me my "complain" of running the same route was more of a minor one. I also understand that it is very challenging to come up with new routes every now and then since Singapore is so small, but it would be nice to make some changes to the route, no matter how minor, so as to keep the run "fresh". That's why I am one of those who welcome the change of Sundown route this year though we have to conquer the dreaded heartbreak bridge - at least it feels different from last year. To the overseas runners, I guess the route will still feel "fresh" to them coz they don't run here often, whereas we run the same ECP route for at least 3 runs a year, not to mention we can easily run the same route on our own time as well. Same theory for us going to overseas runs - the locals may also think it is a bore to run the same route every year, but we as overseas runners won't feel it that way. I have not ran many overseas marathons before but from what I see. .. The routes dun change.. its either due to iaaf certification as new measurement needed if route change... or it might just cause lots hassle to the organisers. .. I also think that runners keep going back to run the same route every year as they are trying to analyse the route and trying to find ways to tackle it.. imagine if the route changes so frequently... It will be too unpredictable and elites might shun away...
  13. It's not reli ex compared to some of the overseas marathons... so jus go for it... Anyway I have free up my lot and went for the HM this yr... haaa
  14. Yup. On the facebook page: online registration opens at 12.01am on 7 July. So for those non-SCB cardholders but ran last yr, who's staying awake on the 9 Jul 0001 to sign up?? wah siong leh..... and no world cup that day also.. .hahah.... worse for me... i will be in Aust... so have to wake up at 2am if i can wake up..........
  15. hmn.... this part never try before... cause they never specifically say need to sign up using your own card.... bearing your name...... but just give it a try then... so this becomes... a quick hand quick leg thingy cause only first 2500..... wah.... HM worse... 1000 only..... did they mention what time starts registration?
  16. yup... i noticed some other runners have the front emblem already smashed up by washing machine but still wore it....hahhah
  17. Yes! I sold off all my SCM finisher tee but still kept the adidas 08 finisher tee. The design n e quality is the best so far to date. same.... the 2008 edition is my most worn finisher tee of the SC series.... its prints are still on.. amazing....
  18. maybe they only let us run past the sports hub only....and not getting in....hahah.....
  19. same thoughts as me... i am getting a little bored... so might go for the HM instead.... cause i always support their FM and never understand why HM seems so popular....
  20. i tihnk so ah....the 15% discount should be still more than $65 so its still more worthwhile to register during that period for past runners..
  21. wahha.... and worse still... if u didnt get the slot then.... jialatl iaoz... cause by then all priority queue over laioz...
  22. something different is that Ekiden teams now have to put in S$500 donation to enter.... soemthing quite new... think of the fast registration take up rate...they came up with this new idea...
  23. that's really a longggg ago race which i never hear before...hahah.... this post also made me wonder what they are planning to do.... running around Sg for the 42km sounds quite impossible......
