It was a fun run after nearly 2 weeks of no running. The JP Morgan Chase Challenge was packed with a crowd of about 11,000. Considering that the race started at 6pm on a Wednesday evening, the turn out was pretty neat!
There were many financial organisations that took part and they were sporting their nice corporate jerseys and some even had matching shorts. The guys and gals also had different kinds of jerseys! Our team captain Sharon had proposed for everyone to wear white tops so we could be identified as a group. Couldn’t find a white one so turned up in pink instead.
We put our stuff at Planet Fitness Far East Sq and walked over to the starting point just outside the Esplanade. Same starting point as the marathon I believe. Managed to meet up with some colleagues from other branches such as Jadely, Poh2, Roy, Serena, Sanda, Eugene and our HQ runners such as Gabriel, Say Hong, Ian, Pei J before the start of the run. I stood somewhere in the middle together with the others.
The weather was gloomy as the rain had just stopped. The grounds were wet. When the gun sounded, we started out on slow jog towards the front. I was taking it easy but started to pick up pace when there was abit more space to surge forward. It was going to be a short run and though I had not trained, I decided to push my pace a little. I passed by a couple of familiar faces, giving them a light tap on the shoulder or smile then continued on forward. Kickjazz called out to me and we had a short chat before I continued on.
